The creature is mottled with a hint of blood and an apparent dusting of powdered gold. It is clearly organic, moving up and down, and back and forth while its lacy metallic wings quiver eerily, and its tongue lolls in its ghastly mouth. It is spiky and ugly, a jarring contrast to the silent golden pond below.
The creature appears to be walking forwards, and it feeds by eating time. It destroys all animate creation by taking away the time allotted to it. Every 60 seconds it slowly opens its mouth and suddenly snaps it shut, devouring each minute as it passes. Its fearsome jaws begin to open about 30 seconds into the minute, reaching their full extent about quarter of a minute later, and it waits in silence until, between the 59th and 60th second, it bites; and that minute is never here again.
Every 15 minutes the creature raises its sting, and as the quarter hour approaches the sting begins to quiver and move, and then it slowly sinks back. Every hour, on the hour as the clock strike sounds, the Chronophage snaps its mouth and shudders, shooting its sting the number of times of the hour.
The creature's unearthly eyes blink at random, its golden lids closing inwards.
